Dursasana : The epitome of evil man

Dursasana

Dursasana is one of Kurawa's most prominent characters after his eldest brother Duryudana. He represents a puppet character who symbolizes lack of youth, ethical blindness, and lack of manners. By Duryudana, his older brother, Dursasana is believed to have headed the government in Kasatriyan Banjarjunut, which still belongs to Astina. She married Dewi Saltani and from that marriage she had an only child named Dursala.Dursasana's marriage to Dewi Saltani from the Kingdom of Sruwantipura or Kasipura was with the help of Arjuna.

Actually Dursasana once proposed to Goddess Trirasa princess Begawan Bratasudarsana. However, this intention failed because Dewi Trirasa was finally married by Setyaki, Krishna's sister-in-law. It was this event that caused Dursasana's deep hatred for Setyaki.Dursasana had also committed a heinous act against Dewi Drupadi. This incident occurred some time after pandawa performed King Suya's Offering for Amarta Kingdom which they had finished waking up. The Pandava were invited to the Astina palace, they were drinking intoxicating drinks and then invited to gamble, at first the stakes were still small. By Patih Sengkuni who represented the gamble on the part of Kurawa, deliberately awarded victory to Puntadewa, who represented Pandawa. But as the stakes got bigger, Pandawa continued to lose. All the Pandavas have changed hands to Kurawa's side. The last thing at stake was Puntadewa's wife, Dewi Drupadi, who lost too.

At that time because of the drunken victory, Dursasana dragged Dewi Drupadi from the keputren room to the palace hall. Drupadi was dragged by pulling his hair off his bun. For the incitement of Duke Karna, who had a grudge against Dewi Drupadi, Dursasana tried to strip Drupadi in front of many people. Every time Dewi Drupadi's cloth is pulled loose, every time Drupadi's body has been magically wrapped in cloth again. Drupadi's bun also escaped due to Dursasana's behavior. At that time Dewi Drupadi swore that she would not roll her hair before it was covered with Dursasana's blood. Bima, who witnessed the lack of intelligence, swore that he would tear his chest and breathe Dursasana's blood, if he had succeeded in killing Dursasana in Baratayuda.

Dursasana's death occurred while Bima went on a rampage after he learned of Gatotkaca's death. When Bima broke into kurawa line to find Adipati Karna who had killed Gatotkaca. By order of Prabu Duryudana, Dursasana tried to block Bima. An angry Bima continues to pursue him. While about to cross the Kelawing River, for no apparent reason, Dursasana fell. So Dursasana's hair was caught. Then with Kuku Pancanaka, Bima killed his opponent. Dursasana's death was according to the narration, also due to the retaliation of the spirits of Tarka and Sarka, two brothers who were sacrificed by Kurawa in an effort to win the Baratayuda war.
